Merry Christmas!

Advent calendars are one of my most favorite parts of Christmas.  I have never gotten the candy kind but instead opt for the story of baby Jesus.  In case you got caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and baking, here is what it is really all about...

The Angel Gabriel was sent from God unto...Nazareth, to a virgin. LUKE 1:26-27

The angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. LUKE 1:30

And behold thou shalt...bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.  LUKE 1:31

He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the Highest. LUKE 1:32

And Mary said...be it unto me according to thy word. LUKE 1:38

And...there went out a decree...that all the world should be taxed.  LUKE 2:1

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  LUKE 2:3

And Joseph...went up from Nazareth...unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem...with Mary. LUKE 2:4-5

And...while they were there...she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes.  LUKE 2:6-7

And laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.  LUKE 2:7

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them...and they were sore afraid. LUKE 2:9

And the angel said...Fear not...I bring you good tidings of great joy.  LUKE 2:10

For unto you is born...a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  LUKE 2:11

Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.  LUKE 2:12

The shepherds said one to another, Let us now go...unto Bethlehem, and see. LUKE 2:15

And they came...and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  LUKE 2:16

And all..that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.  LUKE 2:18

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem..there came wise men from the east.  MATTHEW 2:1

Where is he that is born King of the Jews?  MATTHEW 2:2

For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.  MATTHEW 2:2

And lo, the star...went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.  MATTHEW 2:9

And when they were come into the house they...fell down, and worshipped him.  MATTHEW 2:11

And...presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrth.  MATTHEW 2:11

MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  1. My big kids still ask for the candy Advent calendars each year...maybe someday they'll not equate Advent with chocolate!

  2. It's very useful to be reminded about what we are celebrating! Between shopping and baking it's easy to forget! Have a wonderful Christmas!

  3. Hope you had a Merry Christmas. As all of the paper and sweets are swept up to make room for the new year, it is my goal to keep the Spirit of Christmas more alive all year long. This was a lovely post to start me off.
