Monster Bars

It is Friday. I have the day off. And my brother and his family are in town. My little nephew is adorable. Today will be a good day.

To celebrate their visit I made Monster Bars. Also called Kitchen Sink Bars. The base is a peanut butter blondie mix then you throw in whatever other hodge podge of candies you have on hand. They are delicious, fun, and it cleans out your pantry.

Enjoy!

Monster Bars

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients (serves 12)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup Peanut M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F. Line an 8-by-8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, spray with cooking spray; set aside.

Beat butter until soft in a stand mixer.

Add the egg, brown sugar, vanilla, and combine until smooth.

Add the peanut butter and stir until smooth and incorporated.

Add the flour and stir until just combined. Be careful not to over mix.

Add remaining M&Ms and chocolate chips and fold to incorporate.

Turn batter out into prepared pan, smoothing the top lightly with a spatula.

Bake for about 25 minutes, or until top is set. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean, or with a few moist crumbs.
