Vacation time in Charlottesville and WIAW

It seems like it has been forever since I last posted and really it has....almost a week.  We left Friday after work to drive down to Washington DC.  Sadly Mr. J woke up Friday morning feeling less than his best.

After some long hours in the car we made it to visit with my brother and his family for a few days. I will post more about that tomorrow. We have had a whirlwind of a trip so far.   Tuesday we woke up to head a bit further south to see my Aunt and Uncle in Charlottesville.

We had blueberry muffins and fruit before heading off.  Even though it was short trip we had a car snack with this yummy granola bar.  The cocoa and chocolate made it seem like dessert.

It was so good to catch up with my aunt and uncle. I was so busy talking I forgot to take a picture of lunch. We had quite the assortment of cheese, crackers, hummus, and sandwiches.

After lunch we headed off to a local winery. There are so many in this area. It would take weeks to visit them all. I will post more about this visit tomorrow.

Dinner was quite the spread. We had so much fun continuing to catch up in the kitchen and snacking on cheese and wine while all the cooking was taking place.

Dinner was a colorful salad with caramelized onions and sausage pasta.

The onions were so sweet and added balance to the spicy sausage. It was the perfect winter meal as we looked out over the still snowy fields.

Dessert was even more delicious. A lemon, blackberry bread pudding. It was still warm and gooey.  Sweet and light. I already have the recipe ready to make again once we get home.

I feel like so much has gone on in the last few days to share and cannot wait.
