Weekend Edition: Things

I have all sorts to share. Can you have a weekend where so much happened, yet it was slow.

We were able to relax a lot this weekend. Saturday was gray and rainy and we made the most of it by cooking all day. We have so much food, I don't think we have to make anything else all week and we will still be eating like royals.

This roasted chicken not only gave us supper but the extra chicken went in two other recipes.  It was the best roasted chicken we have made in a long time.  Not that the others were bad but this was darn near perfection.

Sunday morning brought us a new couch.  It is so comfy and so big. I will post some before and after pictures soon but our old seating was just not cutting it. It was a loveseat from seven years ago.  There wasn't enough room plus at this point it was faded and torn.  This sectional from Crate and Barrel is huge in comparison. Mr. J and I can both be on it and not be able to touch.

Finally we got a nice little surprise in the mail this week from my brother. He always finds interesting things from far off places with all of his travels. These are Kuli Kuli bars. They are made with the next big superfood, Moringa. Native to South Asia, this rapidly growing tree is now widely used throughout the tropics. Moringa’s high levels of protein, calcium, iron, Vitamin C and Vitamin A has led many organizations to advocate the plant as a "natural nutrition for the tropics." We got the sampler package. that came in dark chocolate, crunchy almond and black cherry. Although Mr. J didn't care for the texture I thought they were good. If you like Larabars, you will like these.

So there you go. I wish it wasn't Sunday night, as I could sit on the couch forever.

In case you missed it, here is what I was up to last week:

  1. My favorite day is Sunday! Sunday nights, however, are my least favorite! I would love to get my hands on those Kuli Kuli Bars, but not before inhaling that pizza! :-)

  2. You made a dreary Saturday into a good cook day. :) That roast chicken looks amazing. I love the new couch too...especially the chaise part. :)
