The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani is a story I cannot do justice by simply writing about what happens in the book. This book starts in the Italian Alps before WWI with two brother's orphaned at a convent. Ciro and Eduardo do well by the nuns bur are eventually sent away. Eduardo to become a priest in Rome. Ciro to America. Shortly before leaving Ciro meets Enza from a neighboring mountain village. Even in their brief meeting Enza has a special feeling about Ciro.
The book follows the highs and lows of Ciro and Enza's lives. Ultimately it is a love story, however the book touches on the immigration struggles in America and the developing Industrial nation like an historical fiction. The themes are family, love, and heritage.
So now I want this book for two reasons: the sneak peak you shared...and the GORGEOUS cover art. How beautiful!
