Charity dinner

Last night we had a mini celebration. We ventured out to Milford, CT, my second trip there of the day for a charity dinner. It was the 2nd Annual "A night to remember" for Kisses from Katie. Katie Manning was a beautiful baby girl who was born with a congenial heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome(HLHS). HLHS is a rare and potentially fatal condition that is addressed by 3 palliative open heart surgeries. Sadly Katie's life lasted only five and a half months, however in this time she was able to touch many people through her story. After her death her parents founded Kisses from Katie. They have 4 main programs that help parents and babies in the Neo-natal care units of hospitals. Since its founding Kisses from Katie has grown enormously.

The 2nd annual "A night to remember" dinner is a testament to this growth. We had a night of good food, good company, a few games, and lots of dancing. Jordan and I didn't dance so much but we enjoyed watching! We also participated in the raffle and silent auction. The event ended after our bedtime so we are still waiting to see if we won anything. They did an amazing job gather all sorts of cool things for the auction. I hope they made tons of money to support their causes.

I think my plate looks very pretty. Look at all of the colors. Good thing I was with Jordan though. I grabbed too much and he had to finish my plate.

Please go to Kisses from Katie to learn more about all of the good things they are apart of and how Katie continues to make a difference in this world.

busy, busy, busy

Do you see all of this food?

It was dinner on Thursday night. I was in Freeport, Maine. My mom got to visit. It was a fun diversion for a work trip. But now it is back to reality.

This weekend will be busy. Today I woke up at 6am. Had breakfast and went to the gym. Got groceries at the store. Came home for a quick lunch. Off to Milford, CT for lots of errands.

Tonight its a charity dinner. Hoping the food will be yummy and lots of pictures to be taken. If nothing else it is a good cause with good company!

How to enjoy a Friday?

This week seems to last a really long time. I had to go to Middlbury, VT then to Maine. I was really only gone 2.5 days. It seems like a month. There was a lot of driving. And we hit some snow in the mountains. I am just not ready for that.

I am home though and I walked into a wonderful smelling home. Normally work trips end with take-out. It is either late when I get home or I am just too tired to make anything. If Jordan is around he could probably make something but if I am gone for more than one day it is hard to help him via the phone get all of the ingredient out etc. For some reason though this trip I had a wonderful idea. A crock pot dinner would not be too stressful for Jordan - if it were to be let's say Beef Stew - something Jordan likes he could find his own recipe to try. All I had to do was make sure the beef portion was thawed in time for the cooking.

So the recipe is to come but this was our Friday night.

We ended with 1/2 a chocolate walnut cookie and some vanilla ice cream.

It was so nice to have a home cooked meal to end the week with. Yummy!
