Blown away

It was cold in the city, very very cold! In the two days we were there we moved quite a bit. There was a lot to see but I think we wanted to stay warm as well. I don't have all of the pictures. I kept my hands in my pockets some of the time but here are the highlights.

We went to the Natural history museum. This is the largest one in the world. I did my best to be a good sport but these things are not my cup of tea. Not to mention we did the brief overview tour first thing and I am not much of a stander. I can walk forever but making me stand in one place for 20 minutes just wipes me out. I heard it takes 5 hours to see the whole thing. We were there about 3 hours and probably only saw 1/5 of the collection. The building is crazy big and very easy to get lost in.

Of course we stopped by Rockefeller Center to see the tree. Somehow I didn't get any pictures of the tree but here is a cute nutcracker in the plaza.

Times Square was as happening as always. I still find it hard to imagine what New Year's Eve is like down there. We did spot the Charmin bathroom spot. Crazy the things that pop up in the city this time of year.

We went to the windows of Macy's. I love Miracle on 34th Street. I watch the movie every year. I do enjoy looking at the windows at Macy's. It is quite magical.

Among other things we had to go to Radio City Music Hall and see the Rockettes. It was great fun and was so happy to hear that Jordan enjoyed it too.

I am so ready for Christmas now I can barely contain myself. 20 more days to go....

Favorite websites: my inspirations

Since for most of the wedding planning I was in New York I relied heavily on the Internet to do research and find vendors. Obviously I have used this marvelous tool at other times in my life but the wedding was the pivotal point of really stretching its capabilities for me. Now with Christmas crafts and cooking I am really getting into it.

I look to see what is out there and all of the pretty things I could have. That sounds pretty materialistic but I am into creating a "home" right now. Homes need to be cozy and things makes homes cozy to a certain extent, as long as you don't go hoarder style.

Anyway, randomly I will be sharing some of my favorite websites. The first up is... Shop Terrain

They have house goods and decorations.

They have all sorts of kitchen towels, bowls and even food products. I adore the egg beater towels.


Everything is pretty simple but elegant. I would love to have these things - maybe I should have added them to my Christmas wish list. Just looking at them makes me feel all warm inside. They update the site frequently with new products and most things they sell are from independent crafters, producers, etc. I love it!

Crock Pot Mexican feast

Today was my first day back in the office since before Thanksgiving. Since then I have eaten a lot, survived a tornado in South Carolina, and written lots and lots of emails. Today seemed to go on forever but I still had things to do when 5pm rolled around. I had to leave though cause tonight we have guests! My parents are coming to town. My dad has a big birthday coming up this weekend and we are going into NYC for a weekend of FUN!

Tonight's dinner was suppose to be quick and easy. It was easy but not as quick as I had hoped. I had great plans to take pictures and blog about it but the time got away from me. Lucky for me though I got the idea for a blog so go check out Hearty Chicken Enchiladas from Living Like the Kings. They were oh so good and there are plenty of leftovers.

Now on to some packing, I am really getting sick of packing. And then its time for the city. Stay tuned lots of good eats to come.
