Cross Country Travel and WIAW

Since landing in California, we have been eating nonstop. I think it might have something to do with our long days.  I never quite adjust to the time difference.  I wake up about 4am every day.  These extra hours just beg for a 4 meal day.

These tacos were the special at Loteria Grill at the Farmer's Market on W. Third street in LA.  This is right next to the Grove shopping area.  We took a little stroll after lunch and ended up on the TV show Extra!  We saw two 1 minute takes but were there for about 30 minutes.

I love staying at Double Tree resorts.  They give you a welcome cookie.  Chocolate chips.  Walnuts.  And it is warm. Basically it takes me about 30 seconds before I dig in.

Another great meal was at the Back Abbey in Claremont.  They have a small menu but based off of what we ordered you can tell that they do everything they make very well.  I got The Back Abbey burger with aged Gouda, caramelized onion, Niman Ranch bacon, & micro greens served on a Brioche bun.  Mr. J got the beef tip sandwich.  We shared an order of duck fat fries.

We probably could have done without dessert but these beignets were calling to us.  One order is 5 little donuts.  We couldn't eat them all.

While in LA we did a whirl wind tour starting with the Santa Monica pier.  Although it was colder than we would have liked the sun was bright and the ski was so blue.

Completely unplanned we were in town for the Golden Globes.  We did a drive by but this was all we could see.  The actual red carpet was tucked away out back and blocked by closed roads.  No celebrity spotting for us.

The closest we got with celebrities were the hand and footprints outside of the Mann's Chinese theater.  They have really small feet.

The views were just breathtaking.  We were told that because of the cold weather skies were very clear.  We went to the Getty Center to see the art, the architecture of the building and for the views.  This is definitely a must see spot to visit.
