Weekend Edition:NYC with a Baby

This weekend my parents came to Connecticut and we took the train into New York City to meet my brother and his family.  My SIL has never been to NYC and we wanted to show her the city.

Central Park was a bit past its prime for foliage but I thought it was still pretty.

Dinner was mussels and fries from Bar Americain.  Bobby Flay restaurants are the best.

The sun was out a bit in the morning before it unexpectedly went away in the afternoon.

Despite the scenery my nephew liked the leaves the best.

Lots of shadow.

And then the sky got cloudy....

In case you missed it here is what I was up to last week...

      What I am reading lately...

      Me Before You

It has been a nice long time since I have posted a good read on the blog. I went a time without reading when we were in the midst of house moving. That hasn't changed much but due to all of my travel via planes lately I have had some time to unwind with a good book.

Me before you by Jojo Moyes is a British book. The main character is Louisa Clark who lives at home and just lost her job.  After several failed attempts she lands a job as a care taker for Will Traynor who once was a very successful business man but lost movement in his arms and legs after a motorcycle accident.

Louisa and Will are nothing a like but Will's family hopes Louisa will bring the joy of life back to Will.  The book details their relationship and adventures during the six month work contract.

This book hooked me from the beginning and I was done within one trip.

      WIAW: More Travel

I had to make a quick run to Durham, North Carolina this week.  Although I am kind of at my limit for traveling lately with all of the recent trips. I wasn't really dreading this one. The flights weren't crazy times and we ended up getting some great meals. We stay at the Hilton by Duke University.  Breakfast there is pretty good as far as hotel breakfast bars. They have oatmeal and loads of toppings. Plus fresh fruit. The strawberries were delicious and made me miss summer.

Lunch was supposed to be at Chipotle. I have had serious cravings lately for their steak salad bowls. However, when we got there, we saw a Noodle and Co. right next door. I opted for noodles. I got shrimp pad Thai and salad.  They didn't really go together but the salad made the whole meal healthy.

Dinner was a at new place, Piazza Italia. I am glad we branched out because it ended up being so delicious.  I got veal parm with homemade fettuccine Alfredo noodles. So good!!

What is the best meal out you have had recently?
