Something extra in the ordinary

Have you ever had an unexpectedly wonderful day? The Sunday of Memorial day weekend, (yes, i am a little behind on the blogging) turned out to be such a marvelous day. I was home for the weekend in order to attend Jordan's cousin's wedding. It was a long weekend with perfect weather in Maine and there was also much wedding planning taking place with the true mission being to find a dress for my mom for the big day. The wedding and the dress finding all took place on Saturday. Come Sunday, we decided to hop in a car to Freeport for a little shopping and to find a map of Casco Bay.

After the map hunting we were a bit hungry and decided to make a pit stop at a restaurant my mom and dad had randomly found a few months earlier. Jordan has been craving good BBQ for a long time. There are no good BBQ restaurants close to us in NY that we have found thus far so when my parents mentioned this new place and the name Buck's Naked BBQ it was a no brainer.

The pictures are horrible as this was truly an unexpected stop. We had to use Jordan's cell phone for the ones below. The menu was huge and then there are 4 homemade sauces to use on the BBQ you order. Most of the orders are just with dry rub. I thought it was good just like that but the sauces were also delicious.

I had the basic 1/2 rack of baby back ribs - my favorite.

Jordan had one of the many combination platters. He got some ribs, sausage, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork.

All meals came with corn bread and two sides. We tried to be somewhat healthy and get "dinky" salads for some greens. And who could go to a BBQ joint and not get some baked beans. Everything was very very good and I will be sure to go back if I am in the area again. We had so much fun - the atmosphere is really low key and rustic.

With our full bellies we were off to finish the shopping trip and strolling through Freeport. Being outside in nice weather with company you enjoy is some of the best times. Cannot wait for more days like this.
